Celebrate Museum Day in Greenville on May 7th

Nine of Greenville’s museums and attractions are planning a celebration of Museum Day on Saturday, May 7th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

The City of Greenville’s Tourism Director Jes Adam is organizing the one-day event. Adam said, “This is a great opportunity for our residents and visitors to experience a fascinating nine-stop tour of Greenville’s unique museums and tourist attractions. At the same time, the American Farm Heritage Museum is hosting their annual Spring Fling event that includes a barbecue contest! At 5 pm on the Greenville Square, we will have a Classic Car Cruise-In, sponsored by J&R Collision, Thacker Insurance, Double J Doggie Play-n-Stay, Farmland Auto Glass Plus, and the City of Greenville. We hope everyone will take the time to visit these stops and enjoy a day of fun in Greenville.”

To guide visitors to each of the participating locations, guests can pick up a “Museum Day Passport” at any stop. Each location will have a special sticker to add to the passport. This year, the passport booklet includes a map to all of the participating locations and unique information on each attraction.

Most locations will include special features for Museum Day. The American Heritage Railroad will have free train rides for the first 100 children, sponsored by Thacker Insurance Service. The DeMoulin Museum has arranged for a goat petting zoo and a visit from Magician Dr. Longhair! There will be a few surprises in store too.

Participating locations include: DeMoulin Museum, Greenville Public Library, Bond County Historical Society, American Farm Heritage Museum’s Lil’ Red Barn, Richard W. Bock Sculpture Museum, Montrose Cemetery Mausoleum, One-Room Schoolhouse, American Heritage Railroad, and Hill’s Fort. More information is available at GreenvilleIllinois.com or by calling the Greenville Municipal Building at 618-664- 1644.
