East St. Louis Heritage Festival Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center 12pm-5pm
The festival will have numerous exhibits, live entertainment with a tribute to Miles Davis by the Bosman Twins; demonstrations, photo booth, market place vendors, a Children’s Village, Church Row hosted by Sparkman’s Magazine; Champions Corner, hosted by Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee; an interactive legacy wall that allows people to designate where their family moved throughout the City hosted by I AM EST Magazine; and an opportunity to listen to the political soapbox with the NAACP.
Where Illinois Began Randolph County Courthouse and Museum 1PM-2PM
The Liberty Bell of the West Chapter, Illinois State Organization NSDAR, will erect a monument in Chester, Illinois, to memorialize the history of Randolph County as “The place where Illinois began”. The monument will be located between the Randolph County Court House and the Randolph County Museum. The monument will be constructed of French Creek Black Granite Marble. This project has been approved by the Historian General National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
