The McKendree MetroRecPlex is a new, full-service, state-of-the-art sports complex. The complex offers two NHL-sized ice rinks, an aquatic center fit with a 10 lane championship swimming pool, a contemporary fitness area and many other amenities. Memberships and daily passes can be purchased for use of the facility and all its features.

Scenic and sought-after, the Big Red Barn offers a covered bridge, mill house and lake in a rustic, natural setting. Inside seating for 250 people and a dance floor of 650 square feet are available and open year-round for weddings, reunions, corporate, and family events.
Guided tours for white tail deer, quail, pheasant and chucker (in season) are available or hunt or fish on your own. Cabins sleep 4 – 6 people and the banquet hall can accommodate up to 160. The facility is open year round; reservations are required.
The trail runs from the Carlyle Lake Visitor’s Center (Trailhead) east for 10 miles across the Carlyle Lake/Kaskaskia River Dam and the saddle dams. The surface is black top and concrete with some crushed rock surface on the eastern end.
The World’s Largest Golf Tee was constructed out of various widths of yellow pine wood, 60 gallons of glue and 120 lb of screws. The 6659 lb project took six months to complete. Future plans for the Golf Tee are to add an 18 foot diameter golf ball to the top of the Golf Tee and allow golfers to tee off from the inside.
The lake and certain lands are open to the public for recreational activities, fishing, boating, picnicking and hunting. A large variety of fish, birds and wildlife can be found.
This 19-mile asphalt/oil & chip trail offers spectacular views of the Mississippi River and Clark Bridge while running along the river and canal, from Russel Commons Park in Alton to 20th Street in Granite City.
One mile south of Hutsonville Road, west 1 mile, 1,129 acres, restrooms, 8 stocked ponds, hiking & horseback tracks, seasonal hunting, ranger on duty, closes at dusk, no camping.
Open for fall family activities at the pumpkin patch, Sept. 30-Oct. 29. Day activities are every Sat. 12-5 and Sun. 1-5. The activities include a choo choo train, inflatable, 20 foot slide, gold mine, corn box, gourd slingshot, small fence maze, hayride, hay maze, corn maze,hillbilly golf, obstacle course, and several small additional activities. All activities are inclusive for the $8 admission. Additional purchases might be refreshments at the concession stand, pumpkins, gourds, and straw. U-pick available.
