Coffeen Lake State Fish & Wildlife Area
The lake and certain lands are open to the public for recreational activities, fishing, boating, picnicking and hunting. A large variety of fish, birds and wildlife can be found.
The McKendree MetroRecPlex is a new, full-service, state-of-the-art sports complex. The complex offers two NHL-sized ice rinks, an aquatic center fit with a 10 lane championship swimming pool, a contemporary fitness area and many other amenities. Memberships and daily passes can be purchased for use of the facility and all its features.

A one of a kind family owned business. Linda McDowell has owned and operated Canton Inn Inc for almost twenty years with the help of her family. Her son Randy is the head chef and her daughter is the head server as well as dining room manager. The menu includes steaks, seafood, pasta and chicken entrees. Both lakes offer boating, skiing, canoeing, camping, and fishing. Both are stocked with blue gill, crappie, large-mouth bass, and tiger muskie. Glenn Shoals Lake has a full-service marina, including a restaurant.

The store features a growing selection of supplements and herbs, natural body care products, teas and tea accessories, essential oils, and other gifts and handmade items. We are currently growing and inventory is likely to be changing frequently.
This pioneer village was less than a dozen years old when Solomon Harkey built his two-story Federal style home in 1834. A plain house by today’s standards, it must have seemed a mansion at a time when even the courthouse was a simple log structure.

Bremer Sanctuary, just north of Hillsboro, is the home of Hickory Hills Chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society.
Not only is it a protected area and home for scores of birds and animals in central Montgomery County, Illinois, it is also an education center and a showplace for natural areas restoration. Spring and fall are especially active times for outdoor classroom education programs for county schools. But a hard working group of volunteers is involved almost every week throughout the year working to maintain the facility and in woodland and prairie restoration activities. H.J. Long Gymnasium, a 2,000 seat venue, houses varsity volleyball and basketball and the Crum Recreation Center has a terrific gym setup for basketball, tennis or volleyball.

The 19th-century courthouse has a great view of the town’s hundreds of crab apple, red bud, and cherry trees in season. It is the centerpiece of the Square which is lined with shops, a theatre and restaurants.
