The McKendree MetroRecPlex is a new, full-service, state-of-the-art sports complex. The complex offers two NHL-sized ice rinks, an aquatic center fit with a 10 lane championship swimming pool, a contemporary fitness area and many other amenities. Memberships and daily passes can be purchased for use of the facility and all its features.

Popeye stands tall in the Elzie C. Segar Memorial Park by the Visitors Center in Chester. Search through town for his friends on murals and statues: Wimpy, Olive Oyl, Swee’Pea, Jeep, Bluto and more. Character statues are unveiled each year at the Popeye Picnic in September.
This is the home of the official Popeye Fan Club at the 1875 Opera House. See memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century. Mon.-Fri. 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The 2.2 mile loop trail features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. It winds through secretive canyons that hide the biggest display of prehistoric petroglyphs and pictographs in Illinois.
See an old electric chair (last used to execute a woman who killed her brother), and many county & Native American artifacts, Kaskaskia manuscripts and Native American artifacts. Located next to the Courthouse and Courtyard of Flags.
Their menu features a variety of BBQ and fish dinners, sandwiches and burgers. They are knows for their Country Fried Steak!!!!
The Diner will be open for lunch and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Comprised of six acres of rolling vineyards, a large lake, and a renovated barn, this view vineyard sits on a Centennial Farm that has been passed down from generation to generation for over 150 years. During that time, it’s been a gathering place for the community. Now the property has a tasting room for their wines (open Sundays 1-6 pm) and a great venue for weddings, reunions, banquets and other events.
