The boom of cannons, the smell of campfires and a parade of colorful uniforms will transport visitors back to the 1700’s!
This two-day annual Rendezvous features shooting competitions, military drills, dancing, music, food and eighteenth-century-style goods! This year’s celebration also includes 1700’s military units, traditional craft demonstrations, period music and more — all authentic to the period of French control in Illinois. Visitors can try their hand at throwing tomahawks, buy hand-made crafts, learn about French kitchen gardens, watch swordsmen duel and much more.
2020 also brings the 300th anniversary of the first Fort de Chartres structure. Don’t miss the special ceremony honoring the 300th Anniversary during the Rendezvous.
Hosted by Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres and sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres. Additional site support provided by the Illinois Historic Preservation Division of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
