Bavarian Breakfast is a traditional meal still eaten in Bavaria, Germany’s second largest state. The meal always consists of Weisswurst, a Bavarian Pretzel and some sweet mustard, and of course, a bier (usually a hefeweizen).
Weisswurst is traditionally made with no preservatives and will spoil much more quickly than other German sausages. This is why they are made in the morning and eaten for breakfast. The old saying is that the Weisswurst should never be allowed to hear the noon church bells ring, hence it’s normally eaten before lunch.MORE
