Find Time to Wine, Wine

“Find Time to Wine” is continuing with Irene’s Vineyard in Oblong, Illinois. The tasting room is open Wednesday through Sunday making it a perfect place to stop in while traveling. It is located an hour from Vincennes, IN and an hour from Effingham, IL.

The vineyard and winery are locally owned and operated by the Boldrey Family at their countryside home. Wayne and Irene moved into the home in 1958 and raised 4 children and eventually started a winery on 2 acres. On property, they have vines producing 7 different varieties.

The wine produced by these vines range from dry, semi-sweet, sweet and fruit. Their most popular wine is White Trash known for its fruity aroma and smooth, sweet taste. If you are looking for a dry wine try Pour Mi Amore made from the Cabernet grape. This read wine is full bodied with dark, fruit flavors. You can also taste hints of black pepper and bell pepper. If you want to try something a little sweeter, try Embarrass Me. This wine is made from a blend of grapes and is a blush semi-sweet wine.  Click here for a full list of all the wines.

If you are looking for a bite to eat, they also have a food menu featuring appetizers and handmade pizza. Grab a meat and cheese plate for the table or a Mama’s Margherita pizza with Irene’s signature marinara sauce topped with Marcoot’s mozzarella cheese, hand grated parmesan, tomatoes, and fresh basil. Image may contain: food

Also, check out their event calendar to see what events they have coming up or to see if the winery is closed for a private event.

The winery is open Wednesday and Thursday 12-6pm, Friday 12-8pm, Saturday 10am-8pm and Sunday 12-6PM. Stop in for great scenery, wine and memories. Remember, wherever your travels take you, make sure you always find a little time to wine.
