"Tis the season for holiday fun and one of the best ways to celebrate is with light displays! Here in ILLINOISouth, we have so many it is hard to choose but here are 3 that you should check out!
Located in Centralia, this light display is a holiday tradition presented by the Centralia Foundation. This drive-through display has twinkling candy canes, Rudolph catching some rays and golfing Santa. For even more Christmas displays, visitors can head over to 600 N Pleasant for more.
On Saturday and Sundays you can also visit Santa at his cottage from 6PM-8PM for photos and so the kids can tell him what they want. For even more fun, check out the "LIttle Obie" train running through the park on select days/times. The display is open from 5PM-11PM every night and admission is free.
Located in Fairfield this light display is built on community pride. Volunteers for Progressive Fairfield turn Leo French Park into a beautiful display. Each weekend in December, bring your family out to the drive-through light display. Also, bring the little ones to see Santa at his house in the park.
Located in Belleville, this may be one of the most well-known displays in the area. The entire Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows is decorated for the holiday season and has been since 1970. The display focuses on the reason for the season, the birth of Christ.
Visit on Tuesday nights for Family Night Tuesdays. Avoid large crowds and enjoy great discounts on activities such as camel rides, kettle corn, and animal feed. There will also be food trucks. Click here to learn more.
The indoor activities and outdoor light display are open from 5PM-9PM nightly. The indoor section will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years Day. The light displays will remain open.
