  • Street Art Festival

    Artists transform the streets around the historic downtown square into an outdoor museum as they create fabulous street paintings in chalk. Watch them work, enjoy a variety of food, drink and music. Young artists can create their own work of art at the Kreative Kids Korner.

  • Louis Latzer Homestead

    The founder of the Pet Milk Company built this house that was one of the first with electricity and running water inside. Home to annual festivals celebrating early farm life. Visits are by appointment and during events.

  • Lory Theater

    This theater has been showing movies to the residents of Highland since the movie industry came of age. Prior to that, it was a live entertainment facility used for everything from plays to vaudeville shows. Recently renovated, they now show first run movies.

  • Korte Recreation Center

    This building has everything: cardio/weight room, indoor track, indoor acquatic center and a full-size gym for basketball or volleyball. Locker room and shower facilities available.

  • Glik Park

    Four baseball/softball diamonds, five soccer fields or two football fields are featured. There is also a basketball court, skate park, concessions stand and a 2.7 mile walking trail.

  • Bosshard Monument

    The Bosshard Monument stands as a tribute to Swiss poet Heinrich Bosshard, who wrote Semparcherlied here in the 1850’s. Poet, history and German culture enthusiasts should plan to see the Bosshard Monument on their next adventures in ILLINOISouth.

  • Art in the Park

    Celebrate world class art in October at this two-day juried exhibit and sale. Highland IL’s Art in the Park features original works from 70+ artists in a wide range of art mediums.
