New Year’s Eve Musical Show
December 31, 2018 ► Lincoln Theater, Belleville
Ring in the New Year with a two-hour gala theater pipe organ concert of various time periods.
December 31, 2018 ► Fort de Chartres, Prairie du Rocher
In a traditional celebration dating back to 1722, the La Guiannee singers will visit houses and Fort de Chartres in the early French town of Prairie du Rocher and sing for the residents. As part of the tradition, the residents provide refreshments for the singers at each stop. It is cosponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartre, Fort de Chartres State Historic Site, and the Prairie du Rocher La Guiannee Society.
Annual Polar Bear Plunge
January 1, 2019 ► East Fork Lake, Olney
Take part in the Annual Polar Bear Plunge at East Fork Lake at 12:00 p.m. on New Year’s Day. This annual event was first held on January 1, 2004 by Dr. Robert Nash and draws about 25-50 swimmers each year depending on the weather.
Ringing of the Bells
January 1, 2019 ► Public Square, Belleville
Come celebrate a centennial New Year tradition and join in the celebration by bringing your jingle bells, dinner bells, cowbells, and ring in 2018 at the Belleville Public Square.
