Randolph County dates back to 1795 when it organized from a portion of the neighboring St. Clair County. Due to its role in Illinois' history, the county's slogan states that Randolph County is "where Illinois began!"

From the Kaskaskia Trail to the former State capital and the Popeye Character Trail, Randolph County is full of historical sites and interesting monuments. In fact, a history adventure in Downstate Illinois wouldn't be complete without a trip to Randolph County.
